Welcome to the Good Wood's Christmas edition.
The team at Wildwood Vineyards extends a very merry Christmas and happy and healthy New Year to all. It has been a busy few months for our family leading up to the festive season, with a recent Wildwood and Craiglee back vintage tasting, wine awards season and twilight dining, and we have put together a special offer to spread the Christmas cheer, so please read on to find out more...
Wildwood and Craiglee tasting
  Wildwood Vineyards and Craiglee recently joined forces to host an intimate tasting of rare back vintage wines at Wildwood Vineyards. The group comprised sommeliers and leading wine media, who sniffed, swilled and savoured over 22 of Sunbury's finest wines (although, perhaps we're biased) dating back to 1990. The afternoon was capped off with our famous wood-fired pizzas overlooking the vines, with plenty of healthy debate over the wine of the day.
And the winner is.....
  We are thrilled to have the quality of our wines recognised with three recent awards from Australian wine shows. The 2007 Wildwood Chardonnay is the recipient of two bronze medals; one from the 2009 Ballarat Wine Show and the other from the 2009 Victorian Wine Show. Our soon to be released 2008 Wildwood Shiraz was also awarded a bronze medal at the Visy Great Australian Wine Challenge, and this wine is only going to get better with age!
Vintage Update
  The Wildwood 2010 vintage is off to a great start, with healthy winter rainfall enabling fantastic growth and fruit development. Recent spring rain has graced us at the right time, particularly as crops for this vintage look to be above average. All varieties are growing well, so if the rest of the season is kind to us we can expect to see varieties such as cabernet franc arrive in the winery again next year, the predominant component of the Dunalister – a wine only produced when fruit is exceptional.
Wood-fired pizza and wine at Wildwood a memorable Christmas function
  Looking for a unique venue for your Christmas celebration? Wildwood offers an al fresco dining area that comfortably seats up to 50 people, while the cellar door complex offers seating for 25 people. If you want a cocktail style event, we can comfortably cater for 40. Our chef will prepare a delicious Mediterranean-inspired feast for guests, offering simple, rustic food, with a menu to suite the taste buds of even the youngest of guests. Friday night dining
  As the weather gets warmer, and the days longer, the Wildwood team is helping you make the most of it with Friday twilight dining. Enjoy daylight savings sunshine winding down after a hectic work week amongst friends and family, with a glass of wine and a meal overlooking the vines - just 15km from the city! We have a introduced a range of delicious summer salads and tasty new dishes to reflect the changing seasons, in addition to always popular wood-fired pizzas, made with our own organically grown tomatoes. The Wildwood Café is open Friday night from 6pm, however a minimum booking of 15 people is required. Saturday and Sunday continues to be open from 11 - 5 pm. Please contact Belinda at the Cafe for more information on 0400 781 543.

Please note that the Wildwood Café and Cellar Door will be closed the first two weeks of January, reopening for business on Saturday the 17th of January.
