Welcome to our new website and our very first edition of The Good Wood. It has been a very exciting few months for our family, with a very fruitful harvest in March 2009 followed by an exciting refresh of our logo and web site which launches this month. We also have some great new releases and events lined up, as well as a very special offer to celebrate our first issue, so please read on to find out more...
Our new look for '09
  We thought after two decades in operation, it was time to refresh our look. So this month we are proud to unveil our revamped Wildwood brand, including a new logo, tagline and web site. The new logo retains the flying dove breaking through clouds - an iconic element which has become synonymous with the Wildwood brand – but has been stylised in a way that reflects the sense of open space and freedom of our vineyard.

We also unveil a redesigned website, fully integrated in the new brand style. While some content has been updated, most will be replaced with new content over the coming months.
Vintage 2009
  To sum it up, the 2009 Vintage was a challenging but rewarding one, characterised by unusual weather conditions which included a higher than average rainfall in the lead up to Christmas then extreme temperatures right up until harvest in March '09.

The heat wave in early '09 had the greatest impact on our chardonnay plantings, but despite losing some fruit, our chardonnay yield was double that of last year.

Pinot from our Stonewall Vineyard and Konagederra Vineyard displayed very different characters which, when blended over time, should produce another truly exceptional Wildwood Pinot.

Shiraz cropped extremely well this season - well above average for the past few seasons - with fruit parcels from our Ghoripani Vineyard and Konagaderra Vineyard showing a range of different flavours.

One of the highlights of the season was the return to the winery of our renowned cabernet franc, which is the predominant variety of one of our signature wines - the Dunalister.

We are very pleased with fruit that has been processed so far from '09 and are extremely excited to be able to soon taste the fruits of our labour.

Events
  Thanks to everyone who attended this year's Sunbury Wine Region Festival, this event is a highlight for the region, and for Wildwood. It was great to see you all out and about, we hope to see you again next year!

  Throughout the winter season our cafe is open weekends and public holidays from 11am to 5pm and Cellar Door is open daily from 10am – 6pm. We have a brand new menu for winter which can be viewed via The Cafe section on our website. Watch this space for exciting news about special events being held at the cafe during the coming months.
